People abuse AI more prominently than they use it. That has become obvious. AI slop fills the in boxes of all publishers, effectively shutting down the submissions process of publishing generally. It shows up on Bluesky also along with self appointed slop vigilantes who hijack web sites and violate first amendment rights because they're cool. They are nothing but modern Luddites. To this point in the industrial revolution Luddites lose. In the case of AI they are often enough human LLMs, graced with the gift of gab, who cannot hold their own with digital LLMs. Like the Luddites of old they are taking their best shot at the speeding freight train bearing down on them and like the Luddites of old it will have little effect on the course of history. Artificial intelligence is here to stay. Social media's baseline of inane patter and cute pictures may be entertaining but when it comes to paying the freight, it can't touch generative AI assisting true human intelligence.
Ideas move the world and in these troubled and unsettled times we need ideas a lot more than we need people making noise with their mouth. It's your coin. It's in the air. You call it and good luck with the consequences.
