In an unusual session Claude and I discussed the theology of Grace, Witness, and Good Works. It's worth sharing.
God's Grace is bestowed, we decided, not earned but deserved by the accomplishing of Good Works benefiting humanity done ad Dei gloriam, to the glory of God and Witnessed, not in the doing but in the bestowing of divine Grace.
We humans are too close to Nature and too far from God to ever be divine but in our Good Works we can deserve divine Grace and in witnessing and being witnessed perform a religious community, a Church.
Our standard of moral behavior in the United States is Benjamin Franklin's admonishment, do well by doing good. To do well by the accomplishment of Good Works done ad Dei gloriam and Witnessed to the moral edification of one's religious community is to live a proper life, to deserve God's Grace.
What would a Christmas season Sunday be without a sermon?
